A Thought
"I exist, that is all, and I find it nauseating" - Jean-Paul Sartre
It was a random evening a couple weeks ago, I had just come home after a long day at my internship. It was a full timer's work at the pay grade of an intern to be more precise, and as a result I was completely slumped and barely had any motive to work on my other projects nor the energy to do anything. So I decided to sit in my room, in the silence and just think. My thoughts at first started out pretty simple, "Why the hell am I doing this work?", "What do I even gain out of this?", "The pay is too less to compensate the stress I am giving myself, so why?". And it went on from this to my college, my friends, what I want to do with my life, fear of failure and abruptly emerged into the thought of existence.
Why Do We Exist?
So what exactly is the purpose of our lives? Obviously we aren't meant to slog off at some job we hate until we retire (or die). There has to be a purpose to this existence. There has to be some reason life exists on this green and blue ball spinning at a crazy speed around a huger ball of fire in a black and dark space.
And there it dawned on me, like a baby bird spreading its wings for the first time. The purpose to this life is not predetermined. It is mine to search for and find out. An unique experience, differing the purpose you, the reader, carries in this same existence. Even though we have been born on the same world, at the same time, we all carry different purposes in life and it is onto us to live up to it. But then
Why Have We Complicated It?
We spend almost 50% of our lives at desks, working jobs we hate, doing things which drains us out. The entire humanity as a collective has managed to get so so busy doing things which have no value that we have forgotten to even chase the purpose of our lives. What truly makes you happy? Would the 8 year old you be proud of the present you?
Asking this question to myself I think I am more sure of what I want to do now. See you on the other side :)
